What is EVA?
Electric Vehicle Approved (EVA) is a set of standards for the sale and aftersales care of electric vehicles which certifies the efforts retailers are making to meet the growing consumer demand for electric vehicles. The standards are developed by the National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA) and are backed by Energy Saving Trust and the Government’s Office for Low Emission Vehicles.
Dealers who meet the standards following a rigorous, independent audit, can display the EVA badge of approval at their sites and become part of a wider, growing network of accredited dealers.
Why do I need EVA?
As the electric vehicle market grows, more consumers will begin to consider whether an electric car is suitable for their needs. Dealers’ role in educating the consumer will be a vital part of this transition.
The EVA badge helps consumers to identify dealerships that are certified for their commitment to electric vehicle expertise. If a business has the EVA badge displayed, you can trust that they will be able to assist with electric vehicles, giving the highest levels of service and knowledge.
The EVA scheme works to promote ‘EV approved’ dealers to motorists interested in purchasing an EV. If your site(s) is certified as an EVA member, it will be displayed on the evapproved.co.uk website, which is promoted by OLEV and EST.
Who can get involved?
The EVA scheme is open to all franchised and independent vehicle retailers who can provide both sales and aftersales services for electric vehicles.
Requirements include having a customer accessible chargepoint on-site, ensuring that an electric vehicle specialist is always available in the showroom and having an appointed ‘EV ambassador’ responsible for delivering electric vehicle excellence, across the whole business.
How can I get my accreditation?
Your first point on the journey to become EVA accredited, is to contact us through our website.
Once your application meets the preliminary checks, it will be forwarded to our independent audit team, who will contact you to schedule the audit. Applicants will firstly go through a virtual audit process, followed by a physical site audit to ensure all requirements have been met.
When successful, our audit team will recommend the dealership for ‘EV Approved’ status, to be awarded by NFDA.
When is the scheme open?
The EVA scheme is open now for a limited number of dealers. Enquire now to ensure that your site does not miss out on the benefits of the only scheme that certifies the efforts dealers are making in the electric vehicle sector.
Being EVA Approved elevates your business by assisting you to become accredited in a new and often confusing market for the consumer. Show your customers that you care about EVs and their adoption, help them make better informed choices and give them confidence that you have been audited by a government approved scheme, to better serve their requirements.
